Bob Hirchak is Allied Van Lines’ August 2021 Driver of the Month

NOR-CAL Moving Services is excited to announce that our very own Bob Hirchak, Van Operator, has been named Driver of the Month in Aug 2021! This is a prestigious award that recognizes drivers on a national level within Allied’s 400+ agent locations in North America, as the best of the best in quality, safety and service.

Allied Van Lines, of whom NOR-CAL Moving Services is an agent, is one of the leading global providers of moving and relocation services. The van line is comprised of fully integrated global network of Allied agencies in the U.S. and Canada.

The recipient of the Allied Van Lines Driver of the Month Award is determined based on the professional hauler’s 12 month rolling stats in quality, claims, hauling and safety. The award is given each month to an active Allied Master Mover with the highest quality rating, top claims ratio and clear safety record. To earn the title of Allied Master Mover, a driver must meet 10 standards, including completing two years of service, ranking in the top percentage of all our drivers based on number of claims and customer performance survey scores and completing Allied’s very own Master Moving School. In August 2021, Bob loaded over 64,000 pounds and so far, has hauled 465,000 pounds year to date. His quality rating for the month of August was 4.97 out of 5. He also has no claims and no CSA violation points. Since CSA started, Bob has always had a perfect CSA score.

Bob brings 38 years of moving experience. He has had a remarkable safety record and unwavering dedication to superior customer service.

Bob started in the moving industry in 1983 when he was in high school working during summer time as a local mover. He worked for Ferree Movers, Inc., a North American Van Lines agent based in Illinois. His two uncles who worked for the same company introduced him to the business. In 1985, he received his class A License and went on to become a short haul driver. In 1988, he bought his first truck and launched his career as a long-distance driver. In that same year, he left Ferree Movers to join Tredways Moving, an Allied Van Lines Agent based in Daytona Beach, FL. In 2000, Nancy McLaughlin who was the long-haul dispatcher of NOR-CAL Moving Services at that time, invited Bob to come work for the company. Since then, he has found his home. According to Bob, NOR-CAL Moving Services has always treated him well. “Everyone here has just been good to me. I’m here to stay.”

Bob has achieved a very successful owner-operator career. His most notable accomplishments include being named 2014 AMSA’s Super Van Operator of the Year in the Household Goods category, 2013 and 2015 Allied Van Lines Driver of the Year and Two Million Miles Award with the best safety record including no preventable accidents or tickets. He has also been recognized multiple times as Top 10 Driver of the Year, Driver of the Month and Runner-Up for Van Foreman of the Year. His most recent achievements are the 2020 Allied Van Lines Senior Safe Driver Award and the 2020 Crystal Tire Award for 30 years of safe driving. The Senior Safe Driver Award is for the driver with the most years of safe driving without any preventable accidents and the Crystal Tire Award is for 30-year safe driving with no accidents and driving 25,000 miles per year.

Bob credits the success of his career by being very organized, professional and surrounded by a great team. “I rely on my team, like you won’t believe. These guys make me. Not one driver can do it himself.” Bob works with a regular team in the cities he goes the most often including San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Chicago. They have been with him for as long as 15 to 20 years. Bob also sets a high standard for himself. “I try to be better than the team who moved my clients before. When a customer who has moved 22 times tells you he has not seen anything like us, statements like that is cool.” Bob’s professional approach in his job has also proven very helpful in winning his client’s trust and getting repeat business. He is very hands-on when it comes to his work and his clients. He is very passionate about serving customers and delivering exceptional service. He makes sure his truck is spotless, he washes and waxes it himself on the weekends. He reaches out to his customers 3 days prior to the job, sending them his business card and a photo of himself and his truck. When he arrives, he is dressed professionally and he preps the house better than others.

“Bob is the best of the best, said Jerry Shahbazian, Customer Service Manager at NOR-CAL Moving Services.  “He attends to every relocating family as if they were his own.  With his expertise and professionalism, he gives families the confidence that their belongings are safe. He does all this with a kind smile that eases the stress of moving.”

Bob has served countless customers from coast to coast. One of his most recent high-profile clients include moving Steve Hahn, the 24th Commissioner of Food and Drugs, from San Francisco to Washington, D.C.

Bob enjoys his work, his team and the freedom and flexibility the career brings. When he is not on the road, Bob spends time with his wife, 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 golden retrievers. He is a big White Sox and Dolphins fan and almost doesn’t miss a game.

His advice to those folks interested to start a career as a household goods driver is to “start with a good help. You have to have the right team.”

We are truly honored and proud to have Bob Hirchak be part of our team. Our drivers are the true lifeblood of what we are all about. We are nothing without these hard working and talented hauling professionals.

Congratulations, Bob!
